Yogyakarta International Airport is a new airport which design to increase flight capacity at the existing Yogyakarta airport, Adisutjipto International Airport. New Yogyakarta International Airport is located in an earthquake area with high liquefaction potential.
In this area, 8m of clean loose sand was found which makes soil improvement with dynamic compaction as the appropriate method to improve this area. As a result, the large increase in shear strength proves the good results of dynamic compaction in mitigating the risk of liquefaction.
